"O Come, O Come Emmanuel" FREEDOM!!

Introduce and learn the first verse to the Christmas carol, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel"
"O come, O come Emmanuel
To free your captive Israel.
That mourns in lowly exile here.
Until the Son of God appear.
Rejoice, rejoice, O Israel.
To you shall come Emmanuel."

John 1:10-12 (The Message)
He was in the world,
the world was there through him,
and yet the world didn’t even notice.
He came to his own people,
    but they didn’t want him.
But whoever did want him,
who believed he was who he claimed
and would do what he said,
He made to be their true selves,
    their child-of-God selves.

Make a Christmas chain out of construction paper. Before taping together, put a merry faced Christmas sticker and write a synonym of the word FREE. As the children open them, one each day until Christmas, talk about how Jesus' coming made it possible for us to be free from evil and live forever."
